England Trip, Day 2 - A Concert, A Cathedral, Another Birthday: As we rounded the bend of the cobbled street in the medieval village, we got our first full look at Christ Church Cathedral Canterbury. One chorister gasped. This is where were singing? Whoa... It was a big moment, and our choristers rose to the occasion with grace. Mollie Nichols directed the group in a beautiful half-hour concert sung on the steps in front of the high altar. Chorister faces beamed in the warm round of applause and hearty congratulations that followed. The choir and their families celebrated their success with lunch in the village, followed by tours of the magnificent cathedral, heart of the Anglican Communion. Eyes grew large as the docents read some of the stories laid out in stone, glass, bronze, and wood. Back at the hotel, we celebrated our second chorister birthday with cake and a party. The evening found the children playing soccer and frisbee in a nearby field, running and laughing in the light English drizzle. Another great day, filled with blessings.
