Enough! Yesterday I decided to take the day off from all the drama... credit cards, telephone, etc. and just enjoy the day. And because of that, I am paying for it today. No regrets tho. But folks, I was due. After making myself a little dinner I decided to venture out to the street and have a cocktail or two and explore Soi 11. There are some very cool things that happen on the Soi when the sun goes down. People from all over the world venture out and literally turn the street itself into one big party. One of the coolest things are these mini VW Buses or Vans that line the street during the day, covered up and locked up tight, only to transform (yeah, like Transformers) into these amazing street bars. Complete with music, light shows, friendly chatter, and a seat to watch Bangkok unfold. The selections, are actually pretty extensive. All bases covered with Bourbon, Scotch, Canadian (still no Crown), Vodkas, Gins, and Rums. The best part is that these mobile bars charge half of what the restaurants and indoor bars charge. 100 Baht for 1 oz. or 150 Baht for a mixed drink. $3.50-$5.00. So after wandering around I decided to sit and order a Suntory Beam (still cannot believe that one) on the rocks. My plan was to just check out the street scene and wait for the World Cup Semi between Argentina and the Netherlands..... (which started at 3:00 a.m. local time) I met a guy from Dubai named Mohammed and we talked for a couple of hours about stuff. Had a blast talking to all the different people that passed by the bars on their way to the nightclubs, bars, restaurants, street food stalls and massage parlors. I made it until the end of the game, which was now close to 6:00 and I stumbled back to the condo to sleep. All in all a pretty good time... check out the video and pics.
