Enough of what we can do. Let the Afghans prove themselves worthy of a country of that name: Let them build a country and defend it. Let them educate their children (should they want to). Let them show that the untold billions poured in since 1945 have not been wasted on corrupt, violent, dysfunctional, religious peasant maniacs ... While we call them schools and the Taliban call them targets, there is nothing that the locals and their fetid culture will do to help us. We cant even buy their temporary loyalty. All that needs to concern us is to flatten the opium harvest before ripening every now and then ...
