Ensuring Equal Access We have ensured in the last 2-4 years that there is water supply in our bastis. We asked for one connection for 25 houses. We managed to get 60 connections for 400 families. For three years it worked very well and people could fill water from them. Slowly the powerful people in the area, I am talking about the MLA. All of you are listening, if I am saying anything wrong please point out. With the connivance of the MLA, the people moved the connection to their houses. Today the bastis are once again in a bad condition. They were mentioning that they have to make pits to collect the water or there is no supply at all or about installing motors. Regarding the motors, we had given written complaints to the Jal Board but it adversely impacted us. They informed the powerful people that there were complaints against them and there were fights with us. This is a challenge for us. It is not that we do not want. We also know about the government, after all we voted for them. Whose water is it? Ours. Who will utilise it? All of us have to use it. But there should be no disparity that someone gets lots of water to wash their cars while others die due to lack of water. We are ready to take our responsibility but you should control the powerful people, the leaders and MLAs-Vimla, Mahila Pragati Manch
