Enteroviruses are common viruses that circulate in the summer. It is uncommon for them to cause severe respiratory symptoms, as they seem to be causing in several hospitalized patients, mainly in the Midwest. As kids go back to school, we will start seeing more coughs and colds. Worrisome signs of more significant respiratory illness are things like wheezing, labored breathing, worsening cough.
