Entrance exams requirements for Moscow conservatory for foreign students outside of Russia: Rules of Entrance to Moscow conservatory for students: There are 7 faculites at Moscow conservatory: 1. Piano. 2. Orchestra /string, wiand, brass instruments/. 3. Hisoty and Theory of Music /musicology/. 4. Composers 5. Conductors. 6. Vocal /solo performance/. 7. Experimental faculty of historic and modern performance art. Forms of study for foreign students; 1. preparatory deparment - 1 year; 2. Main department - 5 years. After gradiating from conservatory: 1. Advanced studies - from 3 motnhs to 2 years; 2. Post gradute course - 2 years; 3. Scientifice research, post doctoral course with Ph.D. dissertation written at the end ( 3 years ). After graduating from the main department, post doctoral course, or post gradute course , the foreign students are give the document of standart form by Moscow conservatory. After the thesis exam /which gives a Ph.D.degree/, the diploma is given by Ministry of Education and Science. For entrance exam to preparatory department and main department foreign students are give the following documents to the Faculty for Foreign Students: 1. The application of the acceptance; 2. Questionnaire; 3. Certificate about high school education or college education - original and copy; 4. Apostil - dosument that confirms that this education certificate is valid and true; 5. The certificate about the equivalence of the document of high school and college education; 6. Medical document of form 086-y , which inclued the results of the blood analysis for AIDS; 7. Active medical insurance document; 8. Copy of the passport of the student, who has permanent status of citizen of the foreign country; the term of the passport validity - no less than 2 years; 9. Notary certified translation of the passport; 10. 6 photos of the size 3 sm by 4 sm. Entrance exams to the preparatory department, the 1st year and post graduate course - is held 2 times a year - April-May and September. Exams to post graduate course and post doctoral course are held in June-July. Additional exams to post graduate course are possible in October, November, February and March. To participate in entrance exams to preparatory and main departments foreign students must come no later than May 25 /Spring entrance exam/ or September 1st /Autumn entrance exam/. The education is paid. The price for study for 1 year /10 months/: 1.Main department - 404000 roubles. 2. Preparatory department - 345000 roubles. 3. Post doctoral course - 404000 roubles. 4. Advancement course - 40400 a month The price for study is determined by the decision of Moscow consertvatory Scientific Board and can be changed. Accomodation in a dormitory by foreign students is pre-paid by the students. Students can use for free reading halls, library, music insrtuments, sport and cultural complexes / buildings/. For entrance to Moscow conservatory the Department byt the work with foreign students sends no more than once a year the offucial invitation through the government of Russiaand Moscow, for the entrance student visa to Russia. 2 months before the entrance exams to Moscow conservatory (except July and August) foreign students are obligated to present to the Department of Work with Foreign Students the following documents: 1. Copy of passport for the student, who has a permanent residence status in the foreign country /the passport term of validity must be no less then 2 years/ 2. The questionnaire filled up . The payment for the study, for visa, food - done by the students themselves. Preparatory Department; The preparatory department for foreign students is very imposrtant, students will study Russian language there and get adapted to the education process. The students get entrance exams only by their own specialized subject. Classes at the preparatory department: 1. Specialty, Russian language, solfeggio, harmony, history of music. Classes by piano are also given for students of other faculties. After finishing the preperatory department the students hold entrance exams b y all the subjects and in case they are accepted, they continue to study at the 1st year of the conservatory. After finishing the preparatory department the students receive the document with the grades of the gradute exams. Students younger than 24 years old can be accepted to the Preparatory Department entrance exams. Main Department For entrance exams to the 1st course of the main department foreign students must hold exams by the following disciplines: 1. Specialty, solfeggio, harmony /written and oral exams/, Russian language /written and oral/, piano. Entrance exams requirements by the specialty are coordinated by the entrance exams requirements for Russian students. After the graduating of the Main Department /5 years/ students receive the diploma by the specialty of the standart type. Post Graduate Course This course is the main course of the advancement of studies in the systmen of the education after the graduation after Moscow conservatory. The performers who have a document about conservatory education or Masters degree, by the following specialties: 1.Piano. 2.Organ. 3. Concertmaster mastership 4. String instruments 5. Wind, Brass and Percussion. 6. Opera, Symphonic and Choir Conducting. 7. Chamber ensemble. 8. Voice /solo singing/ 9. Composition. The term of study - 3 years.
