Entrepreneurial Internship Description We are looking for a general laborer with a professional point-of-view. Apex Construction is a partnership led by an entrepreneur with multiple start-ups from software to golf businesses and a former senior business analyst from a Fortune 500 firm. Interns will learn both basic remodeling skills and receive mentoring on how a small business is launched (warts and all). You are an excellent student (post-secondary) with a professional demeanor and a great work ethic. You want to know the nuts and bolts of running a business and you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty . . . literally! 80% of your time will be spent on remodeling projects, carrying out basic chores like set-up & tear-down, clean-up, ‘gopher’ duties, etc . . . and will grow to include tasks such as painting, tile laying and drywall. The other 20% of your time will be spent on a business-related project, using skills applicable to any business (marketing, finance, sourcing, etc). You will be asked to present your project at the end of the term. Now hiring Fall & Winter interns with a flexible start-date (hours available immediately). Hours are part-time and flexible to fit a student’s schedule. Our goal is to offer each intern 10-20 hours per week, but this will depend on the number of projects we have in progress at any given time. Qualifications Must have a demonstrated interest in running/managing a business. Mechanical aptitude. Professional demeanor (you come to class and work on time and with a friendly, but business-like attitude) Excellent presentation skills. Proven work ethic. Well-organized. Customer-focused. Prior construction experience is helpful but not required. We will train the right candidate on the job. You’ll need reliable transportation – many of our projects take place in the suburbs surrounding Minneapolis-St Paul and you may be asked to report to different projects in the course of a week.
