Environmentally Sustainable Deconstruction The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority, Bonacci Architects and Oneida County Habitat for Humanity announce plans for “green deconstruction.” The partnership will recover material from demolition projects that is reusable and recyclable, divert waste from the landfill, and increase awareness of landfill disposal alternatives in the Mohawk Valley. Environmentally sustainable deconstruction is a two-part plan to include a residential green deconstruction project in the Town of Ava and the development of an informational brochure to increase landfill alternatives. The green deconstruction project will incorporate careful removal and reuse of material from two residential houses on Authority-owned property in the Town of Ava. Wall components and lumber will be re-designed by Bonacci Architects for reuse in a Habitat for Humanity house at a later date. Who: Any one 18 years or older – No experience or tools necessary.
