Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 1 Thess 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not despise prophecies. So many have grieved the Holy Spirit, sometimes unknowingly and other times knowingly, and need to know what to do and how to avoid this in the future. All believers need to learn to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and honor and respect Him more! He is not a spiritual play toy so you can get spiritual goose bumps and just feel good under the anointing, there is a Divine purpose to the anointing. It is not just about soaking and getting drunk or free in the Spirit, there is a work to be done. Over the years I have heard so many stupid comments that are so disrespectful about the Holy Spirit, His character, His attributes and His Gifts! Like some so-called Christians comparing the Holy Ghost to smoking a drug, is so dangerously and scripturally wrong! This type of ignorant talk would definitely grieve the Holy Spirit and in addition disrespecting His gifts. Some so-called Christians have bad mouthed speaking in tongues as of the devil and this is very dangerous to slander such a great gift as being anyway associated with the devil. This is a very dangerous and slippery slope for religious Christians that are not spirit filled. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the unpardonable / unforgivable sin. Remember just because someone has been baptized with the Holy Spirit in the past, and operating in a gift or anointing does not mean they are a mature Spirit filled believer. The gifts are not merit badges of spiritual maturity! I am so thankful for Gods spirit indwelling believers and we need to be more filled with Him at all times, so there is less room for our flesh!
