The Nazis began distributing methamphetamine tablets called Pervitin to members of their armed forces during WWII, but by then, it was already popular and available over the counter in Nazi Germany. In one 4 month period, the German military consumed 35 MILLION tablets! The Germans hoped that meth could further their dream of creating supersoldiers, and as the war started to wind down, they hoped that it would improve morale. The Japanese were also using their own military-grade amphetamines during WWII. On the Allied side, the Americans and British were also using amphetamines, Dexedrine.
