Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. I think everyone who believes in Christ, on some level, does battle with their former self. The trick is to call it what it is, a spiritual battle, and to remember and live like the battle belongs to the Lord. The new self that we put on is one that is born from the truth of God. Gods powerful gospel message comes into contact with our extreme brokenness and ignites a double-edged change in our lives. Our old self is threatened and sentenced to death, and a new self is born.
