Erik – More on this... –Bob###### a Queensland friend of the last 34 years (Bob is actually from Kenya and then UK) was up there in the last couple of weeks, so I asked him what he had seen. Here is his reply. Nothing like a first-hand account from someone you know very well. I am having lunch with Bob tomorrow at the bi-annual ######Computers reunion and will learn more... ...jmh -----Original Message----- From: Bob Brammah [mailt###########@bigpond] Sent: Wednesday, 11 September 2013 5:53 AM To: J Subject: Re: Arctic-ice-caps-grow and other stuff - Bob Carr included... John, I saw this item in the newspapers this week while over there. When we left Svalbard to cross the sea to Greenland the amount of ice we saw was astonishing. We were going to make landfall and into a more northerly area but there was just a wall of ice for miles and miles. We finally got in at the Kejser Fran Joseph fjord. This was the height of their summer as well. Then when we got quite a way in a Katabatic wind hit us which was very weird. I had read about them but never experienced them. It turned our calm fjord into a washing machine. The ice bergs and glaciers we saw were awesome. I have always advocated that the northern hemisphere is heading for an ice age due to the slowdown of the Gulf Stream. Surely this is now good evidence that its happening. Tony needs to get a new perspective on carbon and global warming from real independent sources (different ones) to show that the bullshit we have been receiving over the last 10 years needs to be balanced. By the way the scenery was mind blowing but the trip is not for the faint hearted. Cheers, bob
