Erosion by river Kopili has created havoc in many villages in Hojai LAC. Today 19 oct ,in the morning I visited village Bagenaati in Rajbari Gaon panchayat under Jugijan Block to see the affected area. I was told 10 houses have been totally destroyed in the erosion and it is feared that in case of another flood the entire village of about 62 families may be washed away. Now We have 2 choice, either protect the entire bank with boulders and wire mesh or shift the villagers to some other land which the government should allot. The villagers have taken up this matter with the administration since 2008 and also with the local MLA and Ex Minister but nothing has been done till date.
