EDMONTON — The Edmonton Eskimos pass rushers might be salivating, but Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Drew Willy said Sunday he will sleep well tonight in advance of Monday’s matchup against the Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium. Willy has been sacked a league-worst 52 times this season and the Bombers announced they will be without veteran left tackle Glenn January on Monday due to a bad back. I’m not going to lose any sleep, Willy said. The guys prepared really hard this week. Even on the plane we were going over different things that could happen in the game. They’ve been working really hard and I know they’re going to fight until the end of the game... We know they have a good defence, but at the same time we’re looking to bounce back and have a good game on offence. The Bombers have lost five games in a row and at 6-8 are last in the West Division, trailing the 8-7 BC Lions by four points with four regular season games to play. The Eskimos are 9-5 and would clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Bombers. With January out of the lineup, Winnipeg will start Jarvis Jones at left tackle, one of six roster moves the struggling Bombers are making this week. The other moves will see LB Ejiro Kuale, RB Nic Grigsby, R Aaron Kelly, R Julian Feoli-Gudino and DE Marvin Booker come off the roster, while LB Ian Wild, RB Paris Cotton, R Nick Moore, R Aaron Woods, OL Cordaro Howard and DE Jason Vega will be on the roster. Cotton slots in for Grigsby, who leads the league in yards from scrimmage but has struggled to find traction on the ground in recent weeks. Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea said he is hoping Cotton can spark the Bombers slumbering running game. Kelly has been the leading Bombers receiver the past four games, hauling in 23 catches for 244 yards, but O’Shea has elected to sit Kelly tomorrow and keep Romby Bryant in the lineup with Moore returning to the roster. O’Shea said Bryant is simply faster than Kelly. Romby may be our fastest receiver. So the idea to keep Romby on is to have a guy who can stretch the coverage, said O’Shea. O’Shea will also tweak his secondary this week, starting Johnny Sears at halfback in place of Bruce Johnson. O’Shea said Sears, who has battled injuries, practiced his way back into a starting job.
