Essentially, Israel is a sort of European pseudo colony dropped into Asia under Anglo-American sponsorship. We put it there. We shouldnt have. Nothing about the Levant at the collapse of the Ottoman Empire justified creating a large Jewish state anywhere therein. The reasons for our having done so, initially finding a place to vent our not-so-very-wanted Jews to, then political expedience during the first war, and then giving the Jewish people a sort of booby prize for being most genocided during the second war, are not sufficient to justify this policy in retrospect. Undoing this policy is another matter. The Jews have built a very nifty and progressive little country upon the dismal wasteland in question. If one uses the colonial model here, then the overturning of the colonial status would see a return of control to the native people--whoever they are--and whoever they are in this case, they are mostly non-Jews. However, sometimes decolonization is too much to stomach because the natives are so utterly repulsive and uncivilized. This is a fine example. The Palestinians are scum. Putting these people in charge of anything is to betray of human civilization. The extreme dubiousness of the Jewish claims to their present territory are drown out by the jaw-dropping vile character of the Palestinian opposition. This is true despite the fact that Israel was itself founded on terrorism and its early leaders nearly all veterans of the terror campaigns against the British. The result is that one supports Israel, even though it is arguably wrong, and even though one must wish Israel had never been. Unfortunately, Israel has acquired a right to exist and we are stuck propping it up. While one of the sides continues to exist the fighting will never end. Understanding how we got into this mess in the first place, while valuable for other reasons, tells us nothing about how to fix it. The only things that can fix it, (1) revoking Israel and deportation her Jewish population to ??, or (2) exterminating the Palestinians are things we will not do, and so it will remain perpetually unfixed. -John ßwenkler A man of many talants
