Esteemed Omar Abdullah, A friend just called me that you have - TopicsExpress

Esteemed Omar Abdullah, A friend just called me that you have tweeted that people should email you the reasons for the recent debacle in recently held parliamentary elections. I was surprised how a common man can do it even when a simple SMS service is banned here. And how will an ordinary NC cadre in a remote area connect himself to you through an internet service enabling him to site these reasons. And he may even need some electricity to connect his gadgets if at all he has. But I appreciate your endeavor that at least you want to analyze the deplorable defeat. Soon after the election results were out I wrote on my facebook page. “No more one can make fool of people. That is what these election results prove. Even an ordinary voter is more clairvoyant than an astute leader.” (SIC) Imagine someone calling us MAHACHOOR for stealing electricity when in power and then the same person telling us to steal it when he needs votes is a sheer hypocrisy. People understand it now. He said you were the first to drive on Mughal Road thus claiming that you were the people who accomplished the project but he forgot to remember that many ordinary people had travelled long before you and in a different period, and people notice it. I always found you different from your father. More serious, more transparent and more introspective. But I fail to understand why you call some political party a New Delhi’s creation or BJP creation and that it was now returning favours to them when people know that you were part of same BJP led Govt. I say it to you that it is NC’s creation. I site these two reasons for emergence of this party. 1) Had you as minister in NDA government and Farooq Abdullah as a chief minister of state resigned when the Autonomy Bill was rejected by New Delhi though it was passed by 2/3rd majority by J&K Legislative Assembly. 2) Your father lived in self-exile in nineties but when he returned to power in 1996 he governed the state with all vengeance and venom. Though we know lot of NC cadre had become victims of turmoil but your father should have risen above it and not empowered the brutal Ikhwanis and special task force who have given this nation mass graves, destitute disappearing people, implicated Afzal Guru, robbed people of their wealth and hard earned money, and given wounds that will not heal for long. These two reasons that a son and a father lacked the charisma to sacrifice the power as was expected by your people when their sentiment on autonomy was not upheld, together with the use of all state machinery against their own people to harass and intimidate them paved a way for an alternative party. Leaders who prefer power more than people and least respect their sentiment do falter and people who help them in their ascendency do not hesitate to make them descend. You also said that you made these elections a national affair and not a state one. Even if so, what was there with you to show to the people? • That you helped Rahul Gandhi to hang Afzal Guroo even when the whole Indian intelligentsia says he was not given a fair trial. Paradoxically Rahul’s father’s assassins who were ahead in turn are yet to be hanged and may now be life imprisoned. • That in 2009 and 2010 unrest, hundreds of youth were massacred. • You introduced pellet and pepper gun which added more wounds and suffocated people. • You conducted panchayat elections but never empowered them and made them easy prey. • Most of the deputy commissioners were acting less professionally and more like district NC presidents. • Your MLAs and MPs spent their funds in and around NC bastions and earned commissions for every contract through their registered agents and rendered non-NC belts untouchables in the fields of development and social grants. • The youth seeking justice and rights were declared as drug addicts and drug peddlers. • Would you boast about your education minister who thrashed a youth in your presence even if he belonged to different political ideology? He had come with a trust in you that his problem had a solution somewhere with you. When you along with your minister could not handle a single youth in your own peaceful rally how come you think you will address the aggrieved and agitated youth of state. • Kashmiris respect education system and people allied with it, I mean teachers. You gave them a minister who is an insult to the system, a vituperative whose obscene and noxious gesticulations and invectives speak of a very low self esteem. • The same minister in an assembly session before whole nation and in your gracious presence exhibited himself much against the decency of the constitutional chair. His mephistophelian behaviour did not go well even with your grassroots worker. You unfortunately rewarded him for all that common people hate. • Yousuf Shah’s death did reveal behaviour of people around you and assigning of mandates through kickbacks. You may claim opponents are playing politics but people are silent spectators and do filter the truth. • What would you tell people on employment through PSC and other recruiting agencies? Do you know how many kith and kin of your ministers were selected in comparison to ordinary people? Do you know about the rampant corruption in these institutions. Poor people sell a piece of their land for jobs which will not even fetch them the whole cost even if recruited. • The youth became victims of PSAs and unlawful detentions and some managed their release through official extortionists. The children who were supposed to carry books in their hands are carrying stones. There are many more reasons which will need you to divert your attention to. I tried to focus on some. Hope it will not be taken as personal and like that youth in your rally I will be ostracised as a person of different ideology. I will write even when Mufti’s, Lone’s or anyone else will move away from polity that is against its own people. Also you have some people who appear on different TV channels on your party’s behalf. Tell them to work in the midst of masses before they really share their opinion. Also I regret and feel for the defeat of Ghulam Nabi Azad. I personally believe he was not worth it. His contribution to state and country are enormous. His loss is loss to whole state. I hold the dirty politics of coalition responsible for his defeat. Otherwise his period as chief minister and union health minister deserved him much more than this loss. Thank you.k
