Esther 10:3 For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed. When the Lord is with us and He blesses us what should our attitude be? I love the story of Mordecai in the Book of Esther. Everyone knows the story of Esther, as it is a wonderful chronicle of destiny for a young lady in the Kingdom, but the story of Mordecai isn’t focused on as often. We see in the story that Esther ultimately ended up glamorous and on center stage, but how did that happen? Today, I want to look at the story from Mordecai’s perspective. In the story of Mordecai we discover what our objective should be as blessed believers. When we look at the relationship between Mordecai and Esther, we see that it was really Mordecai that made a way for Esther to fulfill her destiny and save her nation. Esther wouldn’t have been able to do anything without Mordecai in the background helping her to achieve her destiny. We realize at the end of the book that Mordecai was rewarded by the King and placed in a great position next to the King. He could have just stopped there and enjoyed the glory that comes with a high position, but instead he used his situation to bless the people. He actually sought the wealth of his people – not just his own wealth! This means he went out looking to see how he could bless those around him. He looked for those who were troubled and spoke peace into their lives. What a great calling! The doors that God opens up to us aren’t just for our own development, but should be doors of opportunity to benefit those around us. Advancement comes to us for a purpose. Lord, we ask you to help us use the opportunities you give us to bless the people around us. Let our mindset be as Mordecai seeking the wealth and peace of those whom God has placed around us.
