Ethan experienced his first taste of persecution today as a Christian. Sad that it came from one of his teachers at school, Bear Branch Junior High, over something very trivial. This past weekend Ethan attended a Disciple Now weekend at our church. There were over 80 youth in attendance, and for three days they participated in very fun activities and lessons in witnessing and being a good disciple. This year their slogan was 143 standing for I Love God. Each participant had a T-shirt that simply said 143 on the front. They all chose to wear them to school in hopes that the shirt might be a conversation starter. If a student asked you what the 143 meant, you could tell them I Love God. Do you? Then share with them your relationship with him. Simple tool to witness. Well, Ethan was so excited about his weekend experience and desire to share, he went to the chalk board in each class, before class started and wrote 143 I Love God. He had no problems until until one of his last classes. The teacher came in after all the kids, saw the board and asked who wrote that on the board. Ethan raised his hand and said I did. The teacher erased it turned around and told him he had lunch detention. Im very proud of you Ethan! It may not have been the wisest thing to put that on the teachers teaching tool, but it was not a major intrusive thing to do. Im proud of you for your courage and willingness to share your relationship you have with The Lord with others! Im proud that you shamelessly raised your hand and took responsibility for your work, without grandstanding, and without embarrassment. You made me very very proud of you today! Do your detention and move forward!
