Ethnic Identity vs. Social Classes in Rwanda. Hutu/Tutsi ethnic - TopicsExpress

Ethnic Identity vs. Social Classes in Rwanda. Hutu/Tutsi ethnic cards are long gone, and Kagame had convinced himself that this was good riddance right? Now, whats his criteria to identify hutus he wants to apologize and tutsis who need an apology? His only option is to speculate based on peoples looks, ideas, and hearsay. With an ID card, none of that counted. You were either a hutu or a tutsi because you actually were or chose to be labelled so (I never heard of anybody who was forced to be labelled hutu or Tutsi---people crossed the ethnic line because they were pursuing something they perceived to be positive in their lives). There was no need for stereotype or for racial profiling. No, the ID card had taken care of that. Maybe Kagame is trying to eliminate ethnic labels and replace them with social classes as he claims it used to be the case back in pre-colonial time. I.e., Tutsi meant wealthy, and hutu meant poor right? Unfortunately, this time around the social classes Kagame is establishing will be based on the 1994 hutu-tutsi labels right? So, if you were wrongfully labelled a Tutsi in 1994, that automatically becomes your passport to wealth? And if you were rightfully or wrongfully labelled hutu in 1994 - sorry - you are condemned to live as a second-class citizen? Thats a good description of Kagames new scheme, Ndi Umunyarwanda as he maliciously calls it.
