Eva Cassidy was from the Washington, DC area and might be the best kept secret in modern music. Some people say that she had the best voice of her generation, yet few people heard her sing until four years after she tragically died in 1996 at the age of 33. Record producers shunned her because she didn’t want to be pigeonholed into one type of music. She sang soul, jazz, blues, folk, gospel and country.
