Evelyn asks: Years ago we raised many dairy goats that our 6 children showed on 4H and FFA. All were successfully disbudded by me. We gave all our tattoo, disbudding iron, grooming clippers etc to the local 4H clubs once our children grew up and left home. Now we bought what we thought was a good recommended disbudding iron and used it two years with very poor results . Got the good copper color etc. but scours developed big time on our new nubians over boers. I think the iron is to too big in diameter and does not catch the bud. What is a good goat electric iron that will do the job? We are too old to fool with horned goats especially bucks. Is there anywhere we can purchase a used dehorning iron? Thank you.
