Even a cursory look through the list of VCs since 1947 will reveal that on average each succeeding VCs are consistently and systematically worse than all previous one. It is even more the case if you consider their research profile than their other academic aspects. In the university there is only one parameter to measure how scholarly a person is and it is their research records. If the person who is holding the highest position is not up to the mark then he cannot preach others to do research and excel in their own field. Not surprisingly, this has a link with systematic deterioration of the standard of faculties and over all education in our country. Sometimes people claim todays faculties know more than their previous counterpart. This is wrong. You cannot compare us with our past teachers. If you consider the absolute difference between quality of our faculties and their equivalent counterpart in the rest of the world at a given time only then you will know our true position. This gap in the past was narrow and it is systematically and consistently widening. This is alarming. So, please don’t try to fool us any more. This hollow pride does not help rather it works against our cause.
