Even as we are still covered with shock and gloom of the defeat by Pakistan in the Asia Cup game last Sunday, a replica of the 1986 Australasia Cup, when Miandad had hit Chetan Sharma for a 6 off the last ball to get a win and set a pattern for all games to be finally won by Pakistan in Sharjah for a very long time. Then wins by India over Pakistan had become a rarity in Sharjah or otherwise. During this time, started another parallel trail that has always ensured India emerge victorious in World Cup matches over Pakistan. It was 4th March 1992 at Sydney in the WC 92 that it happened the first time. Everyone was pensive this day 22 years back, well, another game and another defeat for us. But at the end of the day, we emerged victorious by 40 odd runs. It was the game in which Miandad had his famous brawl with Kiran More. I take you back to some such days : March 4 1992 at Sydney, India beat Pakistan by 43 runs WC 92 March 9 1996 at Bangalore, India beat Pakistan by 38 runs WC 96 June 8 1999 at Edgbaston, India beat Pakistan by 47 runs WC 99 March 1 2003 at Centurion, India beat Pakistan by 6 wickets WC 03 March 30 2011 at Mohali, India beat Pakistan by 29 runs WC 11 Add to this the two wins in World T20 2007, and some Asia Cup wins in 1984, 88, 2012, and our pains were assuaged of all the horrendous experience of facing defeats from various difficult situations many times ......
