Evening Army... What an amazing day! I am not sure I can adequately describe my experience at Ironman Chattanooga, but I know I have been forever changed. Seeing our team of 10 start out in darkness to begin their Ironman journey was surreal. And then to watch each cross the finish line... beyond words. You can think about how crazy it would be to do an Ironman. You talk about what it might feel like swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles than following up all that with a 26.2 run. But once you see it first hand, you realize it is not crazy... it is insane! I am not sure this is ever something I want to do however I have nothing but the utmost respect for all who attempted this race today. All our Team RTG fundraisers are ending in less than an hour. As you know we have never failed to meet a goal so we are keeping Daves IMChoo fundraiser for Life with our Banana - Yasenia open as we are only at $12,643 towards his goal of $20,000. How about tonight to honor Dave lets see how many $6.72 donations we can get. It would take only 1094 $6.72 donations to reach goal. We are an army over 86,000 strong and this should be east! Remember if many work together by giving a little we can change a lot. Here is the link to donate: ttp://fnd.us/c/2cNJd/sh/61eX82 Each racer today had a story and for tonights Best of I want to share with you one of the most touching stories of the day. Jason Greer is a businessman, a firefighter in Chattanooga, and a well loved member of his community. He also is the father of an 18 year old son, Tristin, who has been battling stage 4 neuroblastoma for more than four years. To honor his son, Jason took up the challenge of running an Ironman. You need to know Jason is not an athlete. Training for this race transformed his body and changed his life. He also raised over $20,000 for cancer research while training and traveling back and forth to Michigan for his sons treatments. Jason was one of the last to finish and the roar of the crowd was defining! Everyone in Chattanooga knows the Greers story and their love helped him across the finish line. There was not a dry eye in the house as he walked across the finish line to find Triston and give him his medal. His story and his journey are a true inspiration! - Barbara A story from January about Jason and his son Triston: nooga/165227/local-firefighter-businessman-to-participate-in-ironman-to-raise-money-in-honor-of-his-son-with-cancer/ Todays Race: wrcbtv/story/26649416/chattanooga-firefighter-competing-for-son-finishes-ironman
