Event: Notes from the Field Presenter: Carol Colfer, CIFOR and Cornell University Topic: Investigating gender and ethnicity in Landscape level governance Abstract: This presentation will discuss experiences in working collaboratively with CIFOR staff, NGO teams, and community members in South and Southeast Sulawesi. The goals of the project under which this research is being conducted include greater inclusivity (gender, ethnicity) in landscape governance/management. The talk will report the early stages of a serious attempt to integrate a simple survey with ethnographic findings to improve men’s and women’s access to decision making processes in governance. The survey data are being used as baseline indicators for monitoring success in the attempt to collaborate effectively with community members and landscape governance institutions. The ethnographic component builds on experience of over two decades working in Indonesia, combined with a literature survey of southern Sulawesi. Wednesday, March 12th 2014 SMSU 236.
