Event that occurred between 10:00 to 10:30pm on 22nd August 2014 at Nitro Sports lounge located at Roops junction in Couva. I went in with my wife to have dinner at around 9:30pm at Nitro Sports lounge in Couva. She ordered a fish meal and I ordered a Nitro Signature burger. The night started of excellent. The meals looked good. Halfway through eating my burger I realized that there was something moving on it. I pulled back from eating the burger. Before i could realize what was on the burger i glanced in my plate and saw, to my horror, a half centimeter long worm alive and crawling on a sweetpeper slice on my plate. It looked like a maggot. I dropped the burger and signalled to my wife and a passing waitress then ran to the bathroom where I vomited both in the toilet and the sink. When i returned i was very upset. I explained to the waitress that i immediately wanted to speak to the manager. I was directed to a person that appeared to be the lead waitress on the floor. This woman pulled me to the side away from the other patrons and started to ask if we wanted a free vegetarian meal and kept trying to calm me down.....then, being upset, my language was very obscene, Why would i want a free vegetarian meal if the meal was the problem in the first case?. Realizing then that i was getting upset with the wrong person,(she was neither manager nor cook) i appologized and I asked again to see the manager. She went off and left us standing near the exit. Nearly Ten minutes later we were still waiting at the exit..... no one returned. I was very upset. I left my wife at the exit, moved through the crowd, went passed the bar and stood to the doorway of the kitchen. I again demanded to speak with the manager. I was informed that they were sending the cook and to move away from the kitchen entrance. I refused. I did not want to speak to the cook I wanted to speak to the manager. I looked in the kitchen and recognized who appeared to be the manager discussing the matter in the kitchen... clearly not wanting to come out and speak with me. This upset me because i recognized that there was no real concern on their part. He was summoned by the lead waitress. He tried to remain hidden but due to my loud and insistant demanding he eventually motioned to exit the kitchen. i stopped him and asked him... dont you know me? He answered yes... I explained to him that that was real crap with the live worms in the meal, that that should not happen to anyone and that i was very upset. He just smiled and said yes i heard.... as if there was no problem while still trying to get past me. His expression got me further upset. I told him then if I got food poisoning as a result, instead of paying medical fees, i would mash up every window in Nitro. I was very irate. My wife by then had moved in behind me and, realizing how upset i was, interjected by saying no one should get a worm in their food to which The Manager responded that a worm and other things in food is a normal occurance... it happened to him in the USA so why should we have a problem here. We responded that a worm in food should happen to no-one. He then began physically pushing me away by my shoulder and started shouting that i was threatening HIM. I heard my wife tell him to not push me and that all we wanted was a sincere appology. He flippantly responded well sorry. Then Two large persons, apparently security officers came up to us and started asking what was the problem. He began to insist I was threatening him. I note that no statement I made was threatening to the Manager although i was very upset and irritated by the entire situation. Some persons got between The Manager and myself and with the security officers present he continued to insist loudly saying that i was threatening him and that he was going to make a police report. All the while with a stupid flippant smile on his face. I looked at him. Cursed him in vexation... then made my way out from his establishment. Irrespective of what happens as a result of this post I, personally will never return to Nitro or any other establishment run by that individual. I also will not recommend this etablishment to anyone. The issue for me remains - THERE WERE ALIVE WORMS IN MY FOOD and i was not paid the simple duty of the manager promptly coming out to hear my concern. The MANAGER went on to admit that DIAZ NORMAL why would I want to eat there? Additionally, to add insult to injury, if a person eats substandard food in US or Foreign does it give them a right to serve it to me as a local without a care? No manager of any establishment has this right to be flippant to any customer who entered happy and willing to pay for their services. my suggestion - should you choose to go to that establishment it is at your own risk but i do not recommend it.
