Events in Ukraine should not be a surprise Dr. Lada Roslycky (in Ukraine) Please, For those who say they are suprised by the events in Ukraine, particularly politicians and leaders of Ukrainian communities all over the world, please watch the video linked at the end (those with no time start at 12:15). The link is to a presenation given in 2012. I was a plea for attention for those who love Ukraine. Thanks to W. Derzko it was possible to give (an unheeded warning). It is difficult to imagine why we, as pro-democtatic people for Ukraine, continue to ignore the facts on the ground. With all due respect to those who are helping Ukraine as we witness another RF invasion, I calll for deeper cooperation. The news is not covering half of what is going on on the ground. Appreciating the fact that certain individuals have professional carrers to take care of, I appeal to those who are able and willing to actually stop calling those telling the truth from the ground conspiracy theorists. I also ask you to consider that there are teenagers out here risking their lives to bring back Ukrainian corpses from the war that does not officially exist in Ukraine. The Ukrainian state needs all the support it can get. The new government as well. However, the fact that men and women who are behind the deaths of Maidan victims - I do not even go into the ATO - (international confilct) are still free at large (and some still in power) - puts me into a position where I ask you to, please, continue supporting the volunteers and doing every little bit you can. Todays elections will certainle change things, but, not more that the 3km+ RF military column which has just violated internationallaw by entering Ukraine. People are not simply dying out here. They are being tortured, raped, blown up like soap bubbles, traded as pawns and are living in fear. For those who care about Ukraine and its people, please, realize that most of us have grown up in a very democratic environment where political technology and abuse of soft power at this level is unimaginable at most. What is happening in Ukraine now is not a result of efforts put in by those who love Ukraine, its language, culture and territory; it is the result of strategic geopolitics threatening the existence of Ukraine and its people.
