Ever heard of XNA? Its like DNA or RNA (same bases) but a different sugar is used for the backbone that the bases are attached to. It looks like it could have some useful medical purposes but of course the main thrust of the article is its possible role in the origin of life. This sentence really stuck out to me, Whether XNA can satisfy these constraints, as well as providing useful functions, remains an open question. Exactly! You can just have a random assortment of bases attached to sugars. It has to provide useful information and function and we know that cannot come about by random chance. It requires an Intelligent Designer and the only one intelligent and powerful enough is God!
