Ever since Honey Singh started gaining attention as a punjabi rapper, a lot of us began to compare him to the artist who invented punjabi rap, Bohemia. Whos the better rapper? Whos the better artist? The comparison will compare the actual raps, musical capability, and overall success/fame. The first comparison is of the two artists as rappers. Who is better at rap? Rap is rated on the basis of lyrics, flow, and delivery. Honey Singh and Bohemia are both very good at flow and delivery. However, Bohemia has amazing lyrical capability. Whether he raps about plight, love, or just for fun, his lyrical abilities always shine. Honey Singhs raps are not bad lyrically, but lack the complexity that Bohemia brings. So we have looked at rap capability. But beyond rap, who is a better musician? Who has interesting beats, etc.? Honey Singh, being a music director, is well versed in this sort of field. Honey Singh fluidly combines bhangra, or other forms of music with his raps. Bohemia to date has stuck to tried and tested beats, which work well with his raps and great to listen to, but are not as great as Honey Singhs music. However, his new album, Hazaar Gallan, does seem to have some newer musical styles to it, but I cannot confirm this as I have not heard the music yet. Honey Singhs capability with music beyond rap is laudable. Finally, who is more successful? This question is a hard one to measure. Success can mean who is more popular, or who has sold more albums, etc. These days, Honey Singh has taken India by storm. However, Bohemia has had much success in India as well. Outside of India, both are doing extremely well. Both Honey Singh and Bohemia have been recognized by Bollywood. Honey Singh had music in the movie Cocktail. Bohemia has had music in many of Akshay Kumars films, such as 8X10 Tasveer, Chandni Chowk to China, and Speedy Singhs. So both are very successful musicians. We cannot leave this off without a proper conclusion. Who is really better? Bohemia, who has been around for longer than Honey Singh as an artist, is certainly hard to top. His new album, releasing later this month, looks to be something fresh as well. His raps are the best anyhow. Plus he did invent Punjabi rap. That being said, Yo Yo Honey Singh has only just started....who knows what the future will bring?
