Ever wonder how to keep the Glass clean on your stove? The deposit of tar on the glass of your stove is what causes it to turn black. One way to prevent this build up, other than buying an airwash stove is to make sure that your fire is burning efficiently and hot. A very hot fire will not only aid in cleaning the glass but will clean out any potential build up in your chimney. Here are some other ways to help the class stay clean: • A mixture of ammonia diluted with water and paper towels. Some stove owners add a touch of vinegar to the mixture. • A commercial cleaning product such as window glass, oven cleaner or wood stove glass cleaner. Always check your warranty before using any type of cleaner to make sure you do not void your warranty. • Several pieces of wet newspaper dipped in the ash from the bottom of the stove will remove tar build-up on the glass, however, it will take a bit more scrubbing than some of the other methods.
