Ever wonder why Han Solo was frozen in The Empire Strikes Back? Well, Harrison Ford wasnt sure that he would be returning for a third film. So, the film makers froze him, so that they could simply write the character out if need be. However, Solo almost died again, in Return of the Jedi. The original script called for him to be killed while taking down the shield generator on endor, and Ford was adamant about the idea. But George Lucas vetoed the death. To save his hero? Because he loves Han too much? No. Lucas was worried about how killing him off would affect toy sales. Thats right, the creator of Star Wars completely changed the fate of one of the galaxys most beloved smugglers because, dead Han wont sell . Hardly surprising, this IS George Lucas after all.
