*(*Ever wonder why were so much in debt.. Heres a Reason*)* First Lady Michelle Obama cost the taxpayers a minimum of $63,000 after she decided to depart early for her Hawaiian vacation on Dec. 16. The First Family was scheduled to jet out of Washington, D.C., together on Saturday, Dec. 21, but Michelle decided she and her two daughters would prefer to spend the extra week at their lavish resort in Hawaii. The extra flight alone cost taxpayers $63,000, not to mention the extra Secret Service personnel, resort rental and island security. Ms. Obama chose to travel in private military jet similar in size to the Boeing 737. The jet is describes as an “office in the sky for senior military and governmental leaders. Communications are paramount aboard the C-40B [jet] which provides broadband data/video transmit and receive capability as well as clear and secure voice and data communication. It gives combatant commanders the ability to conduct business anywhere around the world using on-board Internet and local area network connections, improved telephones, satellites, television monitors, and fax and copy machines.” I doubt the first lady was conducting such strategic military operations during her vacation travel to the Hawaiian islands.
