Ever wondered why the date of Easter changes each year? The calculation for the date of Easter was agreed upon during the Synod of Whitby in 664. This religious meeting had other major repercussions for early Christianity as royal and religious leaders including St Hilda of Whitby and King Oswiu of Northumbria agreed to align themselves with the monastic practices of Rome.
