Every country must do what makes the most sense for the country!! Enough of parroting or referencing the US as the world standard when talking about issues and problems that might be local and unique to the people and country. Talk about negotiation with terrorists and the average Nigerian would tell you it is wrong to negotiate with terrorists and if you ask why the person may even tell you the US said so. A few days ago the same US begged and negotiated for the release of a captured US soldier and it took them 5 years to get a YES from the same terrorists who insisted on the release of 5 suspected terrorists. Of course, some people complained and Obama as usual defended the decision. So, before you quote one sweet sounding phrase and expect the whole world to abide by it think again and check whether it makes sense or not. If you must follow sheepishly, at least ensure you are not following a do as I say and not as I do person. ----------------------- CNN Breaking News: President Barack Obama today defended the decision to undertake a prisoner exchange to secure the release of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl from Afghanistan. We dont leave men and women in uniform behind, Obama said in Warsaw, Poland. He said his administration had previously consulted with Congress on the possibility of a prisoner exchange for Bergdahl but then had to move quickly because of concerns over Bergdahls health and to not miss a window of opportunity. Obama said questions about the circumstances of Bergdahls capture in Afghanistan were immaterial. Whatever the circumstances may turn out to be, we still get an American soldier back if he is held in captivity. Period. Full stop. We dont condition that.
