Every day, Camp Cocker Rescue volunteer Doreen spends a lot of time monitoring more than 35 shelters online, all within a few hundred mile radius of Los Angeles. She maintains a cockers in shelters slideshow on our website and she also posts some of the new cockers for that day on a daily Facebook post here. There could be as few as six cockers a day that are showing up in our shelters and as many as fourteen a day (during the two highest owner turn in seasons, December and July). She posts them because there is always the hope that someone on Facebook will see a photo of a shelter dog and be inspired to go and adopt directly from a shelter and save a life. Well, look at this nice post from someone who did exactly that! She saw a dog on our cockers in shelters post and went and saved him from the Downey shelter! We hope that Doreen feels good about this because honestly, what she is doing is probably one of the more depressing tasks of rescue . . . looking through pictures and pictures of dogs in shelters and knowing we cant save them all. To everyone who shares our cockers in shelters posts every day, thank you to you as well. Who knows, maybe someone you know will see a dog in their newsfeed and also be inspired to go adopt directly from a shelter. We can hope, right? https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=10203709402789672&set=o.304795516269290&type=1&theater
