Every day Its a Great Day in Compton! Yesterday was especially GREAT! 1000 people turned out to support early awareness at our Satra Zurita, Janna Zurita, and Isadore Halls 3rd Annual Compton Walk for a Cure event yesterday. It was a star studded event, with men in pink, amongst all the beautiful women and children in pink! There was a sea of pink on Greenleaf yesterday. Many local, state and federal electeds participated as they have in previous years . Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Carson Councilman Mike Gipson, Lynwood Mayor Aide Castro , Hawthorne Mayor Chris Brown, and Central Basin Water Director Leticia Vasquez. They participated side by side with our Local Home Team Members, Councilman Willie O. Jones, Councilman Isaac Galvan was represented, and Compton School Board President Micah Ali and Member Margie Garrett. SEIU President Barbara Torres, and Executive Board Member Adrian Cleveland participated with several other Exec. Board Members and many of their members including Linda Rollins. AFSCME Local 2325 was well represented! The lovely ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Compton Alumni Chapter, theCompton Commission on the Status of Women, the noble men who make up the Compton Fire Department, the Compton Sheriff Explorers, in my next post Ill list others who sponsored and participated in this very important event.
