Every day, in cemeteries throughout this country, the sorrowful - TopicsExpress

Every day, in cemeteries throughout this country, the sorrowful sound of TAPS is played as another casket bearing the remains of a veteran is lowered into the ground. An American flag is crisply and methodically folded and presented to a grieving family member in remembrance and thanks from a grateful Nation for that veteran’s service and sacrifices in protecting our Freedoms. It is WAA’s commitment to not only honor those currently being buried, but also to remember the sacrifices and service of those who have gone long before who might not now have family members to visit their grave sites and thank them for their sacrifices. - Wayne Hanson, Wreaths Across America Chairman The mission of Wreathes Across America is to remember and honor our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our fellow citizens about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms. Each year in December commemorative wreaths are placed on veterans graves in conjunction with a time honored ceremony. As a unit we have an opportunity to sponsor a local cemetery or memorial. I would like our unit to sponsor a cemetery that is close to our squadrons chartered area or has a personal connection to our unit. Currently the following cemeteries have registered as accepting wreaths in our local area; Cadillac Memorial Gardens Resurrection Cemetery Clinton Grove Cemetery If you know of a cemetery that you would like the squadron to sponsor please e-mail me back so I can check to see if they are willing to participate in the program. Additionally if we wanted to sponsor a memorial that is an option as well. One of interest is the Veterans Memorial Park in St Clair Shores. However this is a squadron decision so please speak up.
