Every new project at the prisons there are always 1, 2, or 3 of the inmates who really impress me in some way such as their intelligence or attitude. The group of women I am working with this fall have got me in such a state of awe at the amount of wisdom they possess. I feel like a student at the feet of a group of great philosophers such as Plato, Spinoza, or Kant. Some of these women have been in prison for 20+ years and instead of being broken they are strong and wise in ways I only dream of. One thing I have noticed with every group I have worked with is that they never complain. Never! Wish it was like this on the outside.
