Every night before signing off, I update the death toll on the Global Voices in-depth coverage page for #Gaza . Every night my heart breaks as I do this. Today was the biggest jump in injured Ive seen in 24 days. With limited electricity and water, I dont know how hospitals in Gaza are coping with 8,300 injured people. With limited electricity and water, I dont know how Gazas morgues and graveyards are accommodating and performing last rites on the 1,437 that have lost their lives. There are going to be so many children left disabled by this operation and many more mentally traumatized by being starved under looming drones and war planes. I hope the 72-ceasefire which starts Friday morning offers some respite, so the resilient people of Gaza can bury their dead, take care of their injured, and stock-up on crucial food, water and medicine. I also hope the worlds leaders step up and speak up for Gaza, because they are the only ones that can put an end to this madness.
