Every teacher can teach, every lecturer can lecture and every professor can profess; that is not really the objective. The objective is allow the learner to have a perspective. In todays teaching environment, I am competing with Wikipedia which has the audacity to have well illustrated lecture on everything in the curriculum and is freely available on the students phones. So what can you safely teach without parroting nonsensically to very bored group of students. That is where perspective comes in. In my class, I let the students know that knowledge is freely available and every topic can be found on the web in breadth and in summary. My presence and perspective is neither freely available nor equal to notes in the web pages. Their presence and participation is not freely available. Our meeting of minds is what the class is all about.
