Every team we take to Mexico has their own distinct qualities...no two years have been the same! This year we put the trip together in less than 1/2 the time...didnt get through all the training...and had team members who had never met each other. We had 7 team members who had never been on our missions trip...and all of us were going to a new village with a new ministry. We usually have college kids go that have been on the trip for years who help lead...this year we only had 1 college student and the rest of the leaders were parents. This year had all the makings of a chaotic discombobulated unorganized mess... but instead the words i would use to describe our team are... ~efficient ~organized ~passionate ~selfless ~eager ~hardworking ~flexible ~loving ~encouraging This team worked so well together and were so efficient. Our campsite was kept so clean (which i love) and we have worked hard and cheerfully together ...each pitching in and going above and beyond to make sure everything got accomplished. I could really go on and on...this team has been a complete dream to our hearts as leaders. During our childrens ministry time we saw several children accept Christ and re-dedicate their hearts to Jesus. Our womens ministry was a very special time with the ladies sharing their hearts and ministering to one another. We had a rousing carnival with some pretty creative games...the kids loved it! WE fell in love with the people of our new village and felt welcomed and are excited to keep in touch. We were also able to make contact with our old village Ejido Mexico and got to visit with old friends! We are so blessed by each and every team member...thank you wonderful parents for raising such amazing kids and letting us serve with them. We will be having a reunion in a few weeks and are excited to share more stories...along with pictures and video. The team will return tomorrow late afternoon...i will post when i have a more specific time. I wanted to share that Tadee and I came home last night. She was such an amazing trouper and i continue to be blessed and blown away by her attitude...strength and perseverance. She was feeling better and we were so excited for our week...unfortunately the oral meds made her pretty sick and then she had a severe reaction from the sun. Her arms, face and hands were burned...had welts and were swollen...causing intense pain. We tried to treat it down there...but she couldnt be in the heat...it caused too much pain. Our friend Kate had driven down for the day and we had to make a quick decision if were were going to come home with her... we didnt want Tadee to suffer in the heat and sun...so we came back. However, Tadee and I felt regret as soon as we left...but there wasnt a way to get to chris and the team since they had already headed into town for the showers. Tadees heart has been broken and we are grieving! Please pray for peace and comfort for her heart...this illness has robbed so much from her. Her secret friend Emma Tarr gave her a journal and colored pencils...she has been writing and drawing in it today... this is one of the pages... this girl...never ceases to amaze!
