Every time I vote, I think about the rallies, sit ins, picket - TopicsExpress

Every time I vote, I think about the rallies, sit ins, picket lines, protests and demonstrations I have participated in since I was a little boy. I think about the pains, heart aches and heart breaks so many experienced to never get the opportunity to vote. I think about my family, parents, grandparents, great grandparents and others who were pillars of dignity amidst the greatest inhumanity. As these thoughts often cloud my spirit and as tears fall from these clouds, a rainbow always appears when I think about the smiles of joyful approval on my mother and fathers face and in their voices, the first time I ever voted. As daddy and I walked down Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn to the polling station, he reminded me of All that went into making this ballot I was about to cast possible, pertinent and powerful. Daddy was beaming and I was swelling with a proper pride and purpose. I will always remember and hold dear the joy of that moment and I believe I feel like my mother and my father felt when I go with Billy to vote every year since he became 18 and it is what I look forward to in the next election when Justice will join us and in 6 years when Brooklyn casts her first ballot. Voting with my children and Worshipping GOD with my children are Two Of My Greatest Joys! We must vote. We have to vote. Our Vote Cost Too Much Pain To Ever Let It Rest In Vain!
