Every year at St Brides Church in Fleet Street the Christmas Story - TopicsExpress

Every year at St Brides Church in Fleet Street the Christmas Story is retold with fun references to the news, magazines, films etc. I thought I would borrow the idea and retell the lovely Nativity with a Neighbourhood Midwives twist. Mary and Joseph were expecting their first baby. Having read the NIce Guidelines they had decided on an out of hospital birth. They had been travelling and in the area they settled in, the NHS trust had a home birth team but there was no room as they were full for December. Mary was distraught but heard from a knowledgeable person, Angela Gabriel, that Neighbourhood Midwives might be able to help. She contacted them and they were able to send wise midwives from the East Team. It was a long way but they used their guiding star satnav and got there in good time. They came bearing many things. A home birth box, frankincense for late first stage and much love and support to help Mary through the challenges ahead. In no time the sweet baby was born safely into Marys loving arms and all was well. The wise midwives helped with skin to skin and breastfeeding then tucked the new family up to rest. They didnt want to leave the new family alone but the nearby Shepherd family arrived to help with lamb stew and other gifts. All was well and a new era began on that still silent night. Happy Christmas to all families, new and old, from Neighbourhood Midwives.
