Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. Letter from - TopicsExpress

Everybody can be great because everybody can serve. Letter from Birmingham Jail,” he famously noted that “we will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people.” MLK This is so true and so simple, but sadly little has been done. It scares me how comfortable our generation has become, including myself. Social injustice is a roaring lion, but swept underneath the rug destroying our communities, our souls and we simply watch in silence. How I long to be out there standing on top of a soap box, with my sign raised up high, health care for all clean water for all food, clothes, shelter for all education for all justice for Trevon Martin. We are comfortable in our day to day living, as long as its not me... I am good. I get to purchase nice cars, expensive red bottoms shoes, hundreds on weaves, take lavish vacations, purchase fancy expensive handbags that I can not pronounce, stuck on reality t.v nonsense, spend years trying to be a non inspirational rap artist or super star, posting twerk videos. How are those things contributing to our failing society? It just sounds like we have too much time in our hands. We roar when a natural disaters happens, or a young innocent boy wearing a hoody is maliciosly killed, but moments later we are crippled by silence. Jim Crow brought segregation, lynching, disenfranchisement. Then, our elders were waiting in long wrapped around lines to cast their votes for change. We can vote for change, but most of us dont. Before I was born( 80s baby)...people mobilized together and fought for peace and justice fearlessly and served proudly! Do you ask yourself what are you living for? What would you die for? Most, including myself, would say I am living for a successful career and for my children. What are we teaching our children? We have made living only about ourselves, but shouldnt all have the opportunity to live freely and peacefully with purpose? I am praying for a CONSISTENT drive within myself to continue to serve and never be comfortable with ONLY meaninglessness material things. When I Ieave this earth to be with my heavenly father, I want to say I made a difference, even if it is small as a mustard seed, at least I made time to plant a seed. Soory fb just having a moment...I pray that this moment never leaves me. # THINKINGOFOURLEADERSWHOFOUGHTANDCONTINUETOFIGHTFORCHANGE#
