Everyone has their idea of how Memorial Day should be celebrated. Here is mine; It IS about the cookouts. It IS about hanging out with family and friends. It IS about the parades. But most importantly... Remember why WE can do these things. While youre cooking out, remember the men and women who paid the ultimate price and gave us and preserved our free country to enjoy the things we have. While hanging out with friends and family, remember the men and women who gave their lives and the friends and families that no longer have their trooper to celebrate Memorial Day with. When watching that parade, remember why there is a parade at all and remember who they are honoring. A lot of Veterans get offended by being thanked on Memorial Day. My opinion when someone approaches me on Memorial Day and says Thank you for your service that it is just a way to pass it along to those men and women who we can no longer physically thank. To those Veterans who feel offended please graciously accept this Thank you and kindly pass it along to your buddy. And if you really want to; as you accept their thank you, pass along the name of a buddy that has lost their life in defense of our great nation. Please remember one of these names this Memorial Day as we CELEBRATE the lives of these heroes who are no longer with us physically. Because when you remember their name they can truly never die...
