Everyone is aware that my hometown is under a strong tropical depression. It was nothing like I havent experienced in the past, nothing like my people will not overcome, however I still wish it wasnt happening again. Many properties will again be damaged, houses be destroyed but hopefully no lives be taken. My mama had been stranded in Matnog for several days now. Ferries/barge were not allowed to navigate. I spoke to her yesterday, she told me not to worry, although I can sensed in her voice that she was very worried (not so much of herself) but with the people left at home. My not so well father, my grandmother and my 9 year old niece. I got the chance to talk to papa for a few seconds before his phone died. He told me that my friends had been helping them at home and were spending the night. The news brought me big relief. These are the kind of friends who were not always on my side, not always present in my life but they come at the right time when I needed them most. I DIDNT call them nor ask them. I didnt get the chance to talk to them, but they showed up exactly when I needed them. Was it the compassion and the kindness that I have been giving them them whole time. Wow, good deeds never come back without extra, indeed WHAT WE SOW IS WHAT WE REAP.
