Everyone on Facebook looks like theyre having a great time. Fun - TopicsExpress

Everyone on Facebook looks like theyre having a great time. Fun adventures, deep romances, amazing jobs. Its enough to make you feel inadequate, but its also a lie. Nobody is really as happy as their Facebook wall claims, as this piercing short from HigtonBrothers confirms. So the next time youre driven to jealousy by a Facebook friends humblebragging about his or her awesome life, dont forget: Theyre probably embellishing it for social media, even if its unconsciously. Ultimately, Facebook is a narcissistic playground where the best, the funniest, the most charming aspects of our lives are publicized and the shitty stuff, the boring stuff, the beige that is most of our daily grind almost never gets posted. All those walls are edited at some level and that makes them, at best, a deformed mirror image of real life or, at worst, nothing more than a fictional movie of how we want people to see us. The solution? Just go live your life, focus on your present reality, and ignore the circus of social media. Trust me, youll be a lot happier. In effect, theyve created their own social media stereotype that, for lack of a better term, can only be described as Facebook elitist. As a full-time senior content strategist for a Fortune 500 company, I can tell you that we consider blogs as part of our social media strategy. And, considering that the bulk of people (including myself) came across this particular article from others sharing it on social media proves that blogs are an integral part of the social media equation. So, before people go slamming others for posting too many pictures of X, or discussing Y too much, theyd be wise to consider that they also utilize social media —just in a different pattern than those theyre criticizing. Is it fine to be annoyed by people over-posting about how much they love their spouse? Sure. (It annoys me, too.) But, rather than complain or consider yourself to be a better person simply because you dont do the same thing, instead just unfollow the person in your news feed. You dont even have to unfriend them (unless you want to, of course). Its not difficult. Sure, it gives those that fit into the elitist category one less person/thing to complain about, but it doesnt take long for that void to be filled. At the end of the day, the general point of the article is really what needs to be considered—to not base your own self worth upon what you see on others social media profiles (no one wants to paint themselves in an overly negative light), to not base your own value upon responses you receive to your posts (unless youre operating a business profile, in which case those numbers do mean something), and to not feed situations where that is clearly the driving force behind the intent (no amount of likes, shares, or commenting with agree is going to cure cancer, change laws, make someone more of a hero, or be the validation that someone thinks theyll get from getting those types of numbers.) TL; DR: Social media is what you make of it—but using it in a different way than someone else doesnt make you the better person. 1954Reply jesusdiaz Jesus Diaz ProfileFollow Jesus DiazThunder 6/25/14 1:15pm Follow jesusdiaz Flag Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Share to Twitter Go to permalink How is one thing incompatible with the other? Your first hint of a miserable and over rated trip to Paris is the worst airpoirt in Europe: Charles De Shit. Followed up by ALL the waiters being snotty assholes, ending with the realization that besides the Eiffel Tower and 1.7% of the Louvre you will actually be able to enjoy, theres not a single worthy thing to see in that asswipe of a city. Rat infested snobby shithole Paris. Go to a real European city like Rome, London, Budapest, Prague, Vienna instead. 712Reply WebGirl Erica Lahoda ProfileFollow Erica LahodaRobert Sorokanich 6/24/14 6:53pm Follow webgirl Flag Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Share to Twitter Go to permalink Yep. One of my aunts is basically such a massive drama queen on Facebook and is always complaining about how her life is basically shit and how unloved and unappreciated she feels, etc. This of course gets her a flood of responses from sympathetic people whos looking to cheer her up. But the thing is.... in real life, shes basically had the good life... shes well-off, all of her kids love her, and shes surrounded by people who basically would do anything for her if she asked them to. so basically she invented this fictional life where everything in her life was horrible and went to shit.... just so that she could fish for likes and get attention from her online friends. Ugh. Of course I like to call her on her bullshit once in a while.... but she always deletes the posts if I post on her facebook wall. lol 16144Reply View all 978 replies POPULAR STORIES Guys take off and land planes on a flying Avengers' Helicarrier drone Guys take off and land planes on a flying Avengers Helicarrier...
