Everyone please bear with me as this site is new to me and many memories are popping up! My Mama used to buy our curtains, bedspreads, etc. from a man who traveled door to door, Bertie B. Allgood?? was the name I remember. Robert Lee used to come around and collect payments for furniture. After I finished highschool and went to work, I purchased my very first bedroom suit from him. By then, you had to drive to the store to make your payments. I still have this furniture and use it in my guest room (of course, matress replaced many times, LOL!). Its 45 yrs. old. Also, I remember lunch time at Lockhart school. The peanut butter- I would kill for now. Also the scotties. I have searched several times looking for a recipe for these. This brings back the hot dogs. I didnt like hot dogs, so every time they were served, my third cousin, Danny Vanderford would trade his sour krout for my hot dog. I loved that krout! Everyone went to Friday night football- whether you had children playing or not. Snow sliding on the hills, huge amounts of candy @ Halloween; children EVERYWHERE trick-or-treating, Dans snowballs. Runt Conards store, hamburger was 3 lbs. for $1.00 @ the Community Cash. When I first got my drivers license, that was the only place daddy would let me drive. My memory isnt what it used to be but these are some that made an impact. Uh-Oh, I just remembered Patsy Dills ORANGE Roadrunner. White interior, SPOTLESS. She never allowed smoking, trash, or dirt in it. She treasured that car! My Mama walked across the street to Hope Clinic to deliver my brother, Gene Vanderford. She had the mumps. She wore size 4 1/2 shoes. Her feet were so swollen- she had to wear daddys shoes for the short walk. Bless her heart. Many years later, I delivered my son, Casey Watkins @ the same clinic. And who doesnt love Dr. Wentz? Ok, I gotta get off here!!!
