Everything about the series SCREAMS “Harim el Sultan,” but I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing. “Harim el Sultan” garnered an exceptional amount of viewers from the Middle East, surprising even those who made the show in Turkey. And the Arab audience subsequently grew to become a part of their target audience as the seasons went along. And that is an indication that the Arab crowd is into HUGE productions centered around schemes, melodrama, and beautiful cast-members. And, let’s face it, who isn’t? So why not invest in that? Why not create a Pan-Arab series that can reach to the Arab audience the way “Harim el Sultan” did? “Al Malek Farouk” was a great indication that we are capable of creating such series with a admirable quality. The series was well-written, well-directed, and, especially, well-acted. With this impressive cast, I have no doubt this series will reach the audience the way it intends to: KOSAY KHOULI! YOUSSRA! NELLI KARIM! GHADA ADEL! NOUR! DALIA MOUSTAFA! ANOSHKA! CARMEN LEBBOS! MBC has dubbed the series as “Drama Annojoom,” and that it is. All leading cast-members are basically veterans known for their impressive acting talents and captivating charisma. It’s a very gripping cast and I can’t wait to see them create and perpetuate the characters’ dynamics. It’s going to make for an interesting watch. MBC Group producing and backing this series is also a sign that the promos are not kidding when they’re calling the series the biggest Arab production (that might be an exaggeration, but I wouldn’t shrug it off entirely.). Sharif Arafa, the vision behind movies like Africano, Assafara Fel Emara, Zahaymer, and Ebn el Onsol (i.e his filmography is pretty impressive.), is directing the series.
