Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust. (2 Peter 1:3, 4 MSG) His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers - 2 Peter 1:3-4 When God breathed His Spirit into us, we received life, just like Adam received life when God breathed into him. God’s Spirit came into us, and through His Spirit we became partakers of the divine nature. As God’s creation, we have a godly seal upon us. A creative hand signed and set a seal on His creation. But this seal does not guarantee entry into heaven. Our hearts must be “circumcised;” we must be born again. When this happens, a new person, created in the image of God, is formed inside us. God’s own “hereditary character” comes into us through the Holy Spirit. New Age suggests that we are all gods, but we are not. Only God is God. But through the new birth, we become God’s children, and as such, we become co-heirs of His nature. We become His children, not just legally as through adoption, but also organically, “genetically.” We are to identify with this nature of Christ in us. The outer man deteriorates, but the inner man is renewed daily. God placed everything we need in our inner man. We communicate with God from there. We receive strength, wisdom and love from there. The devil tries to hinder us from identifying with who we are and what we have in Christ. He wants us to focus on weaknesses and problems rather than the victory in Christ. But in Christ, we overcome every obstacle. Prayer God, help me to appreciate my proximity to You. I am so near You that I am a partaker of Your nature through Jesus Christ. Help me to identify with Jesus in me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
